Pat Ahumada graduated from Henry County High School in Tennessee and has an equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree as a General Certified Licensed independent appraiser practicing mainly in Cameron County, Texas for the past 25 years. Pat is also a general contractor and home builder.
Community Service:
Pat Ahumada served his community as mayor from 1990 -1993 and 2007 - 2011, served on the Municipal Public Utilities Board, was active in historical preservation, co-founder of Brownsville PAWS for the humane treatment of animals and is co-founder of Brownsville Spay & Neuter with the mission to provide affordable veterinary care for animals. Pat served on the Palmer Drug Abuse Board, Hispanic Chamber, and firmly believes indifference is what kills any community.
Golden PAWS Grooming, as the owner and operator of Golden PAWS Grooming, Pat has a mission to provide affordable pet grooming services in our community, while at the same time promote and fund pet advocacy to reduce the high rate of euthanasia by donating $1.00 for each pet that comes in our doors to be groomed. Pat believes that together we can fund pet education, pet spaying, neutering, vaccinations and pet adoptions to change the pet culture in Brownsville. Dear Pet Owners:
As owner of Golden PAWS Grooming, my sole mission is to provide a safe environment and a pleasant groom for your pet while in our trust. GP prices are competitive, but most importantly, your pet will thank you for choosing Golden PAWS Grooming. Why? Because, we are very transparent with a viewing window and we also allow pet owners to stay with their pet while being bathed and groomed. We at GP do our very best to minimize kennel time, because we know it can be stressful. Pet's Rule at Golden PAWS! Pet's are family!
As co-founder of two non-profits, Brownsville PAWS Rescue and Brownsville Spay & Neuter Animal Clinic, Golden Paws Grooming, donates a portion of our proceeds towards pet rescue and veterinary care. Our prices are posted on the wall as you come in. Special cuts that requires more time will incur an additional fee. Please let us know how you want your pet groomed. GP has three groomers with 50, 10 and 1 years experience ready to meet your pet's grooming needs. We groom cats by appointment at 8 a.m. to ensure a pleasant experience. We know cats are sensitive and can get easily stressed by lots of barking, which is why we allow you to stay with your kitty as it is being groomed. We also do Hamsters and bunnies.
Pet's depend on us for Love, Care and Protection. For a healthy pet, provide annual check ups at BSN Animal Clinic, keep vaccines up to date, feed them quality food according to their age, keep their environment clean and free from fleas and ticks (see our recommendations) and pick up their poop! Please! Please! If you really love your pet get it chipped and get a personalize tag. This minimizes the risk of pets being euthanized at the shelter and provides finders to call you immediately if found (7 million pets are euthanized annually at shelters). Keep your pets indoors during firecracker holidays and extreme heat or winter conditions, provide clean water and secured fencing. Please consider donating $5, $10, $20 or whatever you can to pet rescuers, they do a lot to rescue pets and find good homes, but too often they have to make huge sacrifices to help pets. ( If your pet has heat stroke, use hose to cool down and keep still for a few hours, otherwise their intestines can explode or get turned)
